Multiple Teams · “Focus, play hard, and never quit”: Monticello Football tries to keep their goals in mind

The fifth seed, Monticello Magic, are 7-2 as of October 25th.  Monticello took a large victory over the Rogers Royals to continue the Magic season.  With only two losses the Magic will play in Elk River on Saturday the 29th at 2pm.

To start off the season Monti took a hard loss to Alexandria, however, “if we were to play the Cardinals again it would be a totally different story,” explained Coach Eric Hanson.  On the other hand, Monticello took some major victories as well. Some blow out games that the Magic had were against Duluth East, Princeton, and North Branch. Hanson said, “if the boys play to have fun they will win any game.”  Always looking forward to the next game and, “the next game always being the most important,” Jason Schmidt, the Monti season continues.

Even though the season is still going on there has been many great memories shared. Coach Zigan says that his favorite memory was, “the kickoff return to start off the Homecoming game against Chisago Lakes.”   Coach Schmidt says, “it was pretty cool when the fire department came and lit it up!”  “The Cauldron seems to always cheer up the boys and keeps the game interesting,” explained Coach Geyen.

Monticello had many highlights this 2016 season from Ryder Beckman’s rushing yards to stopping Rogers winning streak of eleven against Monticello.
